Under sink .2 micro water filters for kitchen and bathroom

Posted by legacygsh1 @legacygsh1, 3 hours ago

I was diagnosed with Bronchiectasis and Cavitary NTM a year ago. I am feeling overwhelmed with all the changes in my daily routines. I would like some feedback regarding under sink 0.2 micron water filters for my kitchen and bathroom. Currently I'm just using tap water for washing, rinsing fruit and vegetables, and cooking. I'm wondering if it's really necessary to install the filters.

@legacygsh1 Is it necessary to filter water? It depends. If you know or suspect you have reflux (GERD) the answer is yes. If you don't know, or don't have it, the answer is maybe.

Two in our household have Bronchiectasis, so to be safe we filter. We use a standard dual 10" water filter casing, a 1 micron or larger charcoal filter nearest the intake, and a .2 micron filter at the outlet side.

We only filter that separate cold water tap. For the rest of the house, we use unfiltered water, with the hot water heater set above 130⁰ F to minimize NTM in the hot water taps and shower.

Ours is a "homemade" system put together with components from a big box store and online.
