Unable to do stent
On March 26th had surgery to install stent but dr. wasn't able to because of small artery. Also was told not a candidate for by-pass because the arteries weren't viable. Is there an alternative?

Didn't the doctor tell you what's next?
He said there was nothing that could be done and to expect another heart attack. I'm wondering if another doctor could look at the records and possibly try to put in a stent(s). There are two blocked arteries.
Wow - I would make an appointment with the best cardio surgeon you can find. For a doctor to say "sorry, can't do anything, the next heart attack is coming" sounds insane to me.
I spend a lot of time researching doctor reviews before picking one. It can be a frustrating process.
I can empathize. My cardio told me that part of my LAD has an FFR of 0.76 but that it is not stentable. No mention of CABG. I'm leery (probably since my father died 3 weeks after his second open heart at 55yo). Next appointment is June 2, see what he says. He keeps asking if I want cathed but so far I have not gone that route concerned that I'll end up going directly from cath lab into surgery. CAC is 1300, mostly LAD and RMA.
Do you have the gene for familial hypercholesterolemia? My CAC isn't great and my father had his first heart attack at 31. The last one killed him at 56. My older brother had bypass surgery at 60. Both my brothers and I have the gene. What's your LP (a)?
carolyn1948: Your cardiac situation as per your present cardiologist is completely unacceptable!
A thought - were you ever told you have cardiac microvascular disease? These are the very small blood vessels in your heart, plugged up with plaque which can not be stented. Not many people even know of this condition, very common in women. However medication can reduce the pain of angina when/if you experience it (in addition to nitroglycerin tabs for chest pain). It's called Ranexa (ranolazine). I have been on this since 2013. 2 months after my stent (right coronary artery) my jaw/throat pain was not relieved & I was diagnosed with cardiac MVD. Since then, it has been managed fairly good. I take ranolazine ER 500 mg. x2/day. How can a cardiologist say "there is nothing to do, just wait for your next heart attack?" Time for you to move on and try to get a consultation with one of the best medical centers in the US for cardiology. If you can, don't worry about your choice of cardiologist. They will ALL be excellent and work within a team. I have listed the top 10 cardiac centers in the country. Yes, you may have to travel but maybe one facility is close to you. And if not, isn't your life worth it?

Yes, this is going to take time to schedule yourself (been there, done it) but it VERY WELL MIGHT SAVE YOUR LIFE. Take the time for yourself. Get paper and pen. And start making phone calls & make good notes!
Don't give up! I wish you the very best of luck!
You might want to try Coenzyme Q10 - Ubiquinone. Costco has a liquid (which is best or a Q10 in oil) which is good and a good price. My mother needed a stent and started this and her chest pain was better within a week. She was taking a high dose 300 mg per day. She did that for a month and then we started tapering her down slowly. She will have to take it the rest of her life most likely. but has found a dose that works and is going in to have some tests done to see if she really will need to have a stent put innow.
You may want to try the ubiquinol form versus ubiquinone as it more easily assimilated and can be taken with water. Costco also cares this form but you have to order it online if they do not carry it in the stores. It is a red container and has 100 mg per capsule. I would also add that ubiquinol has been used in Europe for a number of years for heart disease but the dosage is 200 to 300 mg
