ulcerative colitis and ibs-c
I got impacted. Colace wasn't enough. Everything is too harsh for me. A nurse suggested Emma, an all natural laxative. Has anyone heard of this? I would appreciate the moderators input also. Thanks.

mariajean03, Have you talked to your Gastro doctor about Linzess? I have been on this for a few years
and it has helped me tremendously with IBS-C....I do not have ulcerative colitis.
Miralax works great for a lot of folks, but, you have to play with the dosage to get it right.
Ask your Gastro about this. It is usually well tolerated.
I also take Magnesium Glycinate during the day. I take Linzess at night. You don't want to take both of
them together. My Gastro said it is ok to take "occasional" Milk of Magnesia if I need too.
Ask your gastro about this.
Praying for you. IBS-C is miserable enough. I can't imagine the UC with it. Bless you.
I'm in abdominal pain most of the time. I'm very sensitive to side effects so Linzess would be no. A nurse suggested Emma Relief for pain and constipation. It's all natural. Wish you and others could research this and get back to me. Guess it does wonders for the gut lining but who knows!
Sorry to repeat myself! Thanks.
mariajean03, It sounds like you want to try more of the "natural route" and I understand.
However, I have found so many natural things simply do not work for me.
Just a thought: This is a medication that I only take occasionally. It is called Bentyl (Dicyclomine) and has worked wonders for pain when I get in a bad flare of spastic colon from IBS-C. Is this something that you may would feel comfortable with and talking to your doctor about? It is an older drug.
Blessings & Prayers for Relief....
I can't take it with my other meds. Makes me feel dizzy and way out there. But thanks for your input!
I was just prescribed this but I worry about its effects on my liver. Do you take it every day or just during an episode?
I don't know what you were just prescribed Trish. Don't know what you're referring to. What do you think may be hard on your liver? Thanks.
trishwrite1, I only take Bentyl when I have an episode and so far no problems. I did take Levsin and it caused blurred vision for me and I had to stop taking it.
Praying and wishing you the best...
Dicyclomine. I have liver Mash I'm controlling with diet but have IBS symptoms.
I never heard of that. I would ask your internist.
