My blood sugars are high every morning around 180 to 200 .If I don’t need anything in the morning they drop down to 76.Has anybody had this problems ?

I would like to introduce some other members with diabetes who might have a bit more to share about morning blood sugar levels. @ihatediabetes, @panicek @lesiel @minda77 @bogdel, @cowen150, @kbart, @nancywhite @amy75, and @lesiel, do you have any experience with blood sugar levels being high in the morning?
My sugar levels have just started this. I use stay around 120 – 130.
My A1C has been very good.
A1C has been holding between 4.6 & 5.6 I have been trying to keep it
ate that point.
But with them staying so high in the mornings I am getting very worried about my A1C
Climbing too high .
Sometimes I don’t think there is rhyme or reason for blood sugars to go high or low. My blood sugars run in cycles. It will go for a few months doing well and staying down but just in the past two weeks it has been running high ( 300’s). I don’t eat any differently and I do exercise. I just don’t understand them either. I hope you can get answers and then share with me. Thank you. MollyB1968

@retiredteacher also wrote about high levels in the morning decreasing as the day progresses. Have you ever talked to a diabetes educator or dietitian about managing sugar levels?
Yes I have talk to the Educator’s and went to the three day course that Mayo has.
I don’t measure my blood sugar daily. I actually refuse to do it because I don’t want to let diabetes have that big a footprint in my life. But I do get my a1c checked every six months and I do follow a healthy living program with diet and exercise and resilience goals. I spend time hiking, resistance training, interval training. I weigh myself every week and I try to cook healthy meals, especially supper. I do my big eating between 10am and 3pm when I’m going to use up the calories and carbs. I don’t drink sugary drinks like orange juice or sports drinks anymore. I try to keep my a1c under 7 so I don’t have to take meds. That’s kind of the understanding I have with doctor as long as I’m doing healthy living program. I also don’t take medications for diabetes. I also have my eyes looked at every year. So I am considered uncomplicated diabetic at this time. But I don’t check my blood sugar daily. I just couldn’t deal with the meter, strips, and needles. It was too much and it made me too anxious. It was too much for me. We do have to take care of our mental health too.
I dont know if im on the right group so i will just ask the quedtion and find out. Im having trouble sticking to foods that are diabetic friendly. Im 74 and have always eaten anything i want and it is hard to break this habit. How do i do this and remain faithful

How long have you been diagnosed with diabetes, Maurtura? Do you currently take meds or are you just watching your diet and exercising? Teresa
Im a type 2 diabetic and i take metformin. I am 74 years old and was diagnosed about 6 years ago. My blood sugar is 140-150. I try to watch my sugar but old habits die hard. I live on 13 acres and im really good at making excuses for not exercising. I recently had 1/2 of my big toe amputated because of infection in the toe. Ive got to do something to turn this around but it is too easy to ignore the problem. My wife is really getting upset so i guess it is time to forge ahead huh?
@maurtura Yes, forging ahead with exercise and a new eating plan are your best ways to stop the progression of this disease. When you hear from @ihatediabetes and @brendisha79 I think you will get a new perspective on this situation. They have both developed some wonderful attitudes regarding a healthy diabetic lifestyle. Have you tried any type of exercise program yet? Is there any activity that you really enjoy? Teresa
Welcome @archer8119. I am new to this forum and relatively new to diabetes 2. (I’m one month into my second year.) There are some wonderful people on this forum and some really good information. I posted about my high morning numbers and then a significant drop after lunch. So far, I have found no solution. I am in the 120’s or 130’s in the morning. After lunch, I am high 90’s or low 100’s. Yesterday I was 129 in the A.M. and 93 after lunch. I had my last endocrinologist appointment on June 5th, and all numbers were within the ranges set for a fasting blood profile, which I had the week before. My A1c is 6.0.
I do not take any meds for my diabetes but control with diet and exercise. I talked with my endo about the higher numbers in the morning, but he seems more interested in my A1c and that the numbers come down after lunch. He says that as long as the numbers drop, he is not concerned. He didn’t have an answer for why it happens. I wish I could find and answer, but so far I haven’t. From researching on line I do know that what and when I eat at night determines the number I get in the morning. I try to eat by 6:00. I do exercise by walking on the tread mill. That gives me more energy and helps my A1c. I agree with others who have been dealing with diabetes much longer than I have. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason for my morning numbers. My endo told me to stop worrying about that number as long as it drops. So I try not to fixate on it. I take my blood before breakfast; three hours after lunch daily and keep a daily food log. I am 73 years old. Maybe someone with more experience can help, but so far it seems that we are all unique with this disease. If I ever find an answer, I’ll share it.
