Hi,

Has any did Type 2 Thyroplasty Surgery before and what are your thoughts? I have been living with SD for over 15 years and Botox only lasts 1 month and half for me. Looking for other options.

Thanks,

Good morning @kal12345678 Fifteen years is a long time to be dealing with Spasmodic Dysphonia and understandable you’d like to get a more permanent correction than almost monthly Botox injections.
We have a group in our forum started this past year where other members who have SD are able to talk about their conditions and what’s working for them. I’ve provided a few links to similar discussions. Some of them are older but still appropriate for SD.

I hope you find some answers! Have you discussed this surgery with your doctor?

Hello,
I have had Thyroplasty surgery with great success. I do not know what Type 2 is so might be slightly different. My implant was replacing a paralyzed vocal chord. My surgery was about 6 years ago and I have had no issues with it.
It does not limit my activity level at all - I am very active.
Take care,
Jackie

Hello @kal12345678

How are you doing with the SD symptoms? Is surgical treatment a possibility?

T2T is a possibly but I heard it’s not recommended in American cause we use silicone instead of titanium implant. My doctor did not recommend the surgery.

It was silicone. It had to be gently shaped (carved) during surgery for a good fit.

Once you had the consultation with the doctor regarding the surgery, how long did it take to get the surgery?
