Has anyone been using Tymlos?

Has anyone been using Tymlos? I received devastating news that my bone density score is 4.6, much worse than my age of 72. Recommendation is Tymlos.

It would be nice if that is indeed the case. I've never heard of "Together with Tymlos", only "Radius Assist." I know that they can verify eligibility. After I find out, I'll post an update for others who need assistance paying for Tymlos.

Following up. I just got off of the phone with Radius Assist (866-896-5674). They verified that I don't qualify because I have commercial insurance, even though they will only pay 40% of the cost after I meet my deductible, and with prior authorization.
Thinking I may have found a loophole, I asked, Should the the prior authorization fail, would I then be eligible for Radius Assist"? The answer was a definitive "No".
So my research into alternatives now resumes.

I wonder if you could post a question. For those under 65 I have read on this forum about discounts and coupons but since I am older I did not pay attention 🙂 I hope a thread on paying for it would draw that info out!

I found the FDA data sheet on TYMLOS. It can be a bit technical. Some may find it informative.

I was 48 when I learned mine was bad. Tymlos gave me a a high heart rate that never went away, I tried so many heart meds to control and I’m finally on Atenolol every day, I can’t run, I can’t go up the stairs if it’s too much because of my heart! I wish a new this before trying Tymlos and I’m only 50.

I am to start Tymlos this week and very apprehensive about it. Has anyone used their thighs to inject the Tymlos? If so, would you please let me know. I cannot find any chatter about this. A lot of subcutaneous injections can use the thigh as a site. Forteo uses abdomen and thigh. The more sites to rotate the better to keep our skin integrity.

Oh no. I am so sorry to hear this. Did you have any heart issues before starting tymlos? How many injections before this happened to you?
Hope you can heal from this.

I have been using Tymlos successfully. I inject it at night and I do get dizzy, but it doesn't last long and it really doesn't bother me much. I have commercial insurance and use a Tymlos co-pay card, so I pay $0 for it monthly. The co-pay card cannot be used with Medicare unfortunately. I have had the best increases with Tymlos. I have also used Evenity without really any great gains, my endocrinologist was surprised, but it just didn't work for me. With Tymlos they only suggest injections in the abdomen area. I watched the videos and it does not talk about injecting in the thigh. Someone could probably call Radius and find out. Here is a link to the copay card.

@ykr I started Tymlos in January and took 22 doses. I had several side effects that I consulted with my Dr about. I took a month break from Tymlos, then on March 1 started again. One of the side effects was bloating that I attributed to the daily "gut" injections. I asked if the thigh was ok to inject and the doc said yes. I could not find any info online or from Radius health as to whether the thigh was acceptable for injection using Tymlos, so I called them just yesterday. They said that they had not performed any clinical trials using the thigh as an injection site, therefore could not say the thigh was an option for injection. But, they did say to follow Dr recommendation, so since my doc said the thigh is ok, I am using my thighs on a rotation basis. Thigh, abdomen, thigh abdomen kind of thing, so each leg and side of the my gut gets a break from daily impaling. Good luck on your journey!

For what it’s worth, my doc said sub-q injections could be given anywhere - even in the back of the arms - but is generally injected into the abdomen and thighs because of ease of administration. I used a chart to remind myself of the location of each dose so I didn’t overdo it. I had bruising and the occasional drop of blood, but after the first “jab” it gets easier. Cheers!

Thanks, Beanieone. I think I'm going to use my thighs. I am a retired RN, so have been wondering about some additional sites other than the abdominal area. My doctor app't isn't for another month, so I'll discuss with him when I see him.
Take care
