Tymlos pro/cons

@mamabear77 Good morning…please give the Tymlos time. I too had the headaches, palpitations and fatigue but it didn’t last long and after changing my injection from morning to bedtime, I slept thru the side effects (or so I believe), because I didn’t notice them anymore. I did notice fatigue occasionally but to be quite honest, I knew I needed this medication because of my severe bone loss and was willing (to some extent) to deal with side effects. Over the course of the 2-year protocol there were other issues I attribute to the Tymlos, but I did what I could to continue with the process and I’m glad I did. Injecting before bedtime should help…ur body is getting used to a foreign body being administered into it, give it time. If need be, take Tylenol for the headaches and try not to stress yourself out because that will make the process more difficult. I’d take Tymlos again if I could…it was worth it for me. @mamabear77 Some people cannot tolerate the full dose, so they click the pen down to lessen it. It's still effective; well, I'm not sure if one or two clicks is effective, but you can try five clicks and see how that goes.

I will echo others who have answered….when I first started Tymlos (I always took full dose), the side effects I experienced (palpitations and dizziness) subsided after a few weeks. I did do the injection right before bed, so that may have helped. I also started drinking a bit of zero sugar Gatorade shortly before injecting, in hopes that the potassium and sodium would lessen the side effects. Of course, if you are super dizzy you don’t want to drink so much that you have to make bathroom trips….(I wasn’t THAT dizzy, and have to make bathroom trips anyway so it worked for me).

@babbsjoy Thanks for your message. I did do the shot at bedtime last night, and I fell asleep just as the palpitations were starting, but before the headache. Up to the bathroom later without much going on. Small headache this morning. Hope this will always be the case...such a relief! Two years is a long time, so I hope the drug and I can get along.

I had terrible side effects at first on Tymlos (now on it 13 months). First I could not inject in my stomach, so used my thighs. Next I had bloating or headaches or palpitations. Reduced the amount to 40 and kept it there a while. By month 2 I was noticing a reduction of all symptoms and went on to 80 and injected into stomach.
