Tymlos pro/cons
I’m 57 with newly diagnosed borderline severe osteoporosis.
Dr is strongly recommending Tymlos.
I’ve Read up on some of side effects.
Is it best to take at night incase of headaches/ dizziness?
Thanks!

@saab Tymlos is a daily injection done at home. Tymlos, Forteo, Evenity and Prolia all require follow-up with a bisphosphonate but the rebound risk is much greater with Prolia.
I am on Forteo the original version of Tymlos. I wasn't able to tolerate Tymlos. Since being on Forteo caused headaches also I switched the time of day for my injections. I switched from mid day to the first thing in the morning. The headaches miraculously went away. Best of luck and Forteo is an alternative to Tymols if you can't tolerate.
Hi All,
I've started Tymlos three days ago - one click only. Hard not to feel like I'm not stepping up but I'm sensitive to meds and am afraid to go full dose right away. Thanks to all of you who have posted about titrating. It's helpful and reassuring to know others have done this as well.
Thanks!
Great that you've started. If one click had no side effects, go to 2 next time. You can always level off for a bit, but you'll never know what you can tolerate until to try. Good luck, and keep us posted!
Hello all, I just started Tymlos as well. I decided to take it late in the evening. I have experienced a headache shortly thereafter & dizziness and within 30 mins the side-effects dissipated. Else, appears as though my body is handling it well. I decided to go with Tymlos at my endocrinologist recommendation having suffered 2 vertebrae fractures and more recently experiencing a lot of pain from what appears to be another fracture. What is ironic is that my DXA/REMS test results are not all that bad. However, fractures can happen, regardless. It seems as though, overall, my bones just aren't so strong. 🫤 Quite depressing.
Calcium, vitamin D3, vitamin K2, and the proper exercise can help your bone density while you are on Tymlos.
1 thing - Tymlos can cause your calcium levels to be high - my doctor had me stop taking calcium and my levels are at the high end of normal. Check with your doctor, or have your calcium levels checked!
I've posted on another thread, but I've been on Tymlos for almost 1.5 years. I had a DEXA 5 months after starting and my spine had gone from -3.2 to -2.8 (hips hadn't changed). It was a different machine - my initial one was at my GYN's office, and now I'm going to a specialty clinic at a research hospital so I can't be 100% sure of the numbers. I am scheduled for another one in a few weeks.
Thank you!! That is what I have read. Fingers crossed.
Thank you!! That is encouraging!!
