Trelegy for mild emphysema?
I have been told I have mild emphysema. A catscan for a heart condition noted that I have mild bibasilar atelectasis/scarring. The pulmonoligist has me on trelegy once a day. If I had not been told I had empysema I would have never known it. No symptoms really, never had an exacerbation ( hear others talk about that, I assume its coughing fits and breathless feelings??). The trelegy makes me cough, causes a sore throat, and other side effects. At the trelegy site it says for use for moderate to severe COPD. It seems to be causing me more problems for having no symptoms to begin with. I did a breathing test, at the Pulm. office, and i guess thats why they me the trelegy. They said my lungs sound good, and in decent shape. Do I really need trelegy. Quit taking it yesterday, after bad coughing and sore throat from using it. Why am I on this with only mild copd???
I take way too many meds for afib, which is in check, and for newly discovered peripheral neuropathy, which is slowly getting worse, Help.

Hi Kennyj. I was diagnosed with mild emphysema by june 2024. The doctor prescribed me Trelegy ellipta for the first time but I had a bad reaction and I stopped using it . After speaking with my doctor she prescribed me symbicort twice a day and I didn't feel bad reaction and work very well so far. Speaking with you doctor to see other options that may help you in this level of the condition. Good luck.
I use Trelegy for severe emphysema and it has a mild effect - no side effects. I would talk to my doctor about this and maybe get a different inhaler - if you even need one at this point. Maybe just a rescue inhaler for now? Good luck!
With Breztri you can use
a spacer which cuts down on side effects
A Spacer is not for cutting down on side effects.....It is used so that the medication is delivered further into the airway and not the mouth. There Upteen different inhalers. I would discuss it with your Pulmonologist and perhaps he can recommend another one.
