I developed tolerance to ambien and all the drugs in that class as well. Actually developed tolerance eventually to all modern sleep meds a few years ago. Trazadone worked well for a few years then started needing higher and higher doses that left me feeling drugged in the morning. Now I take belsomra, a brand new sleep meds that it not supposed to be associated with tolerance issues. It is very expensive though. $400 + retail per month. I’m on a Medicare part D plan and pay $130 every 3+ months. Compared to a few bucks for trazadone.
If it were me I’d stay on the lower dose trazadone due to cost, assured that if the time ever comes, there are alternatives . Perhaps by the time u need it, the price will have come down.
I have been taking Trazodone for about 3 years. No issues. I'm on 50 mg. I sometimes will break a pill in half when I feel I'm not getting enough sleep. Then go back up to 50mg and it's quite effective again.
Trazodone has worked for me for many years. For some reason my Dr took me off it and replaced it with Lunesta, which puts me to sleep, but I wake up after about 2 hrs...so then I just take a couple Benadryl.

I have read that also. We’ve stopped using it. I don’t even use it for my dog’s allergies anymore. I used to take 3-4 when I was going to eat shrimp because of an allergy but haven’t had shrimp since reading the article. Why push my luck.

I've been on Trazodone 150mg. for over 10 years and sleep between 7-8 hours a night. No side effects. Why did you Dr. take you off of it? You said "for some reason" but were you having side effects?

What I have learned on my own is that I do best splitting my 3 mg Lunesta pill. I take half at bedtime, and will wake up in about 3-4 hours. If I don’t fall asleep fairly quickly, I take the other half and sleep well for another 4-5 hours. It works better for me than taking the whole pill, because I will wake up.

A wise decision! I used to use it regularly but won't anymore. You might be interested in knowing that there is an ACB list. It lists drugs that may contribute to Dementia. You can google it.

I've been taking 150mg of Trazadone for about 10 years. Sleep through the night about about 7 hours.
No side effects at all

I don't know about Trazadone and Lunesta, but continued use of Benadryl can emcourage dementia.

Are you referring to Trazodone? Where can I find the ACB list and what does ACB stand for?
