Traumatic Brain Injury: Come introduce yourself
Welcome to the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) group on Mayo Clinic Connect.
This is a welcoming, safe place where you can meet people who know first-hand about living with a traumatic brain injury. Together we can learn from each other and share stories about challenges and triumphs, setbacks and the things that help.

My name is Rebel and yes that is my legal and birth name i was hit head on by a drunk driver June 17th 2019 in cheyenne wy while I was riding my harley since that day I have had many surgeries on my brain only to find out earlier this month I have more issues going on in my brain the part of my brain that I guess rewards your body so you feel joy or pleasure something like that has basically stopped working a while ago I just kept putting off going to a doctor i feel my mind getting worse so to speak so joy can't get motivated or considerate the majority of the left side of my skull is one big plate they had to put in they had one in before this one but ended up getting sepsis in my brain so they had to take it out it just feels like nobody in wyoming knows anything about a TBI

1 Reaction@randallshields56, today is not as bad as yesterday. I've been having a bad depressive episode, but today I was able to leave my bed AND my house, which was huge!

2 Reactions@jacque1ine the brain is amazing at how it can heal, let alone the body if you treat it right, welcome to the mayo clinic connect, i am randy and have had numerous head injuries from age 10 i would guess. 59 years ago. if you exercise and eat pretty decent food and don't over tax your brain it can heal with time. believe me when i tell you it takes time. this last one was a tumor in the brain, cancerous. after treatments and testing my tests came clean up to this last week got a cyst of some kind. not going to worry about it or tax the brain. don't need a seizure or anything like it , so i will keep sending prayers to everyone, now you -----------sent and ill send one up for people that really need one, for now have a blessed day.

1 ReactionHello, I've had 3 concussions in the span of the last two years. One in Jan 2024, one in Jan 2025, and then, before I was fully healed from that one, I got another concussion in Aug 2025. No one warned me that back-to-back concussions take much longer to heal, and I've developed post-concussion syndrome, which has had severe negative effects on my life. But because my concussions were "so long ago," I feel like any time I experience a setback from them, I feel like I'm making an excuse.
