Transplant and now I have breast cancer. Has anyone taken Everolimus?
I am 38 years post liver transplant. Now I have breast cancer. Has anyone taken Everolimus? Think it will help with the cancer. It is way out of my price range. Anyone know if there is any help out there to help with the cost?

1 ReactionI wonder if you would qualify for any of these breast cancer trials using Everolimus?
That would be a double/double benefit, to have your free Everolimus for rejection while
treating breast cancer and helping your kidneys. Worth looking into, Rachel!

I am working with a speciality pharmacy so I might get some help.
@rachel5239 They approved my Everolimus so I will be getting it on Wednesday. So thankful for the help. They also did a liver biospy last Wednesday. They found some rejection (crazy) but it was early. They are treating me with 2 rounds of infusion steroids. I had one today and will get another one tomorrow. Way too much happening right now. I still start my first chemo treatment on Monday. Thanks for the informatio.

2 Reactions@rachel5239Good job, Rachel! So glad you go it approved! As you get bloodwork after you are fully on Everolimus, I would love to know if your kidney numbers go back in range. That is what happened to me. Let us know, will you?
@rachel5239, just checking in and to let you know I'm thinking of you. I know you have a lot going on right now. How are you doing with chemo?
I have only 1 treatment so far. They give you a lot of anti nausea medicine. Gave me an infusion and 4 prescriptions. Thankfully, I didn't have any nausea. Today i was supposed to have another treatment but they didn't feel comfortable after looking at my blood tests. Stressful day. They messaged me tonight saying they think my tests have gotten better and they will not have to do another liver biopsy. I can also start the
Everolimus. My next treatment is next Monday. I believe they are working very hard on trying to make this work. I am doing my chemo treatments in Lacrosse, wI. Only 30 miles away versus 75 miles. Rochester is still making all the decision. Both places are Mayo. I am trying to stay positive. Take care
