Transitioning from Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine) to Methotrexate
My doctor has recommended switching from hydroxychloroquine to Methotrexate. As explained I would continue taking hydroxychloroquine for about a month while starting with a low dose of Methotrexate.
I would appreciate hearing about anyone's experience with this.

Are you switching for better pain managment? Its been recommended to me also if hydroxychloroquine isn’t adequate or has side effects like diarrhea
I have been on hydroxychloroquine for about two years, my dose was doubled during that time and turmeric was added but my MRI still showed additional damage. Methotrexate was added about three months ago and I am still on my full hydroxychloroquine dose. The doctor said they would evaluate lowering my hydroxychloroquine dose after six months. Before I started Methotrexate I had to have a hepatitis test and there is blood work every three months to check your liver levels. I had to have it checked after one month and I already have an appointment for my three month check.
