Total hip replacement surgery

Posted by rby @rby, Nov 14, 2022

Hello there I’m new to this group, I am waiting for a hip replacement I have been in chronic pain and I suffer severe arthritis pain and back spasms , I finally found a new doctor who cares about me, it is refreshing because of the judgment and refusals we all have been through since the opioid epidemic began. I’m 60 years old and I have been very active with exercise and a healthy lifestyle and diet ,I am really diligent about prevention and supplements and cognitive behavioral therapy as well! My hip is now bone on bone and it’s so debilitating, my 30 years of pain has caught up to me a great deal . I’m usually optimistic and positive but I was forced to go on disability three years ago and my anxiety and depression pummeled on a downhill spiral but I’m much better and stronger mentally then ever . Because of my new care plan and new doctor, the pain is horrible, my income has been dramatically reduced and I’m limited to not getting much treatment or care for my pain. I’ spent my life caring for others in the healthcare industry my daughter is a nurse as well. Im so crippled up and I was on a pain contract years ago but I weaned off my oxycodone and benzodiazepines with exercise and diet and bee pollen it’s a wonderful pain reliever and wards off many diseases like cancer and auto immune disorders. I’m not receiving any medication for my pain I have tried everything under the sun I can’t use medical marijuana it makes me paranoid. Any alternative medicine is not covered with Oregon health insurance so I’m needing some ideas ? Much appreciated thank you for reading this and I’d I can help you with anything I am so open to your questions and feedback! Thank you so very much I’m greatful for this website and group! @rby Good morning, Robbalee, I'm sorry to hear of the pain you are having to manage - when you say you are waiting for a hip replacement, what is the reason for waiting? If it is bone-on-bone and disabling, you certainly ought to qualify for immediate surgery?
In the meantime, I cannot think of anything you aren't already doing to help manage it.

Hi. I had a THR in 2020 and am currently
Getting ready for another one.
As far as for pain I take gabapentin and tramadol when I don’t have hydrocodone. Meloxicam seemed to
Have helped also. Good luck to you. Is there a surgery in your future?
