Tongue cancer possible

What does a white gray tongue mean? My PCP says its thrush but I dont see it getting better with taking nystayin rinse. I also have chronic dry mouth at night which at times its unbearable. I'm worried I have tongue cancer. Does anyone have these symptoms,?

I have had several bouts of oral thrush in just 3 years from tongue cancer. Taking nystatin clears it up within a couple of weeks. This is the new norm?
