Today I'm grateful for... (add yours below)

1. This wisdom of this community (and the encouragement and shared experience). 2. Seeing the stars when I go to radiation at 7am, then the sunrise on my way home. 3. Homemade biscuits with tons of sausage gravy (because calories, and I'm still early in treatment) 4. Excellent medical care and a community of faith that prays with me and for me every day.

Hi
Mine is being helicoptered to our Whangarei Base Hospital NORTHLAND for STROKE Embolic. Rain and windy day!

Within 4 days diagnosed diagnosed with the above, add Rapid & Persistent AF. Trolleyed down under before they could start ant Heart Monitor to be Carotid Arteries scanmed.

Result as the scanner Jade said. I do 2 for yje price of one! I also look at your THYROID.

Oops, she said you have a shadow on your thyroid.

That was Friday. On Monday I consented to a biopsy. Yes, papillary camcer. Thyroidectomy Feb 2020.

Now I am coping with 3 diagnosis and what goes on with those.

But still at 76 now I am alive and coping OK.

I am grateful for the woman I met in the Mayo elevator who encouraged me to stay on my healing path and to Thank God for the challenge of healing. I'm pretty sure she was an Angel.

I’m grateful for an unbelievably caring and supportive wife to get me through my treatment challenge. Also my family and friends who checked up on me and offered encouragement along the way. And finally my faith in God, as I know he was watching out for me and not giving me more than I could handle.

I'm grateful for the incredible team of doctors, physician's assistants, nurses, and technicians that have allowed me to weather the last four years of navigating an aggressive thyroid cancer with grace and agency. That is a gift that not all of us receive. Truly thankful for it.

@jmcfadzen, may I ask what treatment you had for which type of cancer? How are you doing now?

Doing better than I thought I would. Last treatment was Oct. 29th. It was tough at the end of treatment. But now able to eat a good variety of food. Acidic or spicy food irritates my throat. Still can’t taste everything, loss of saliva, need water to rinse down certain foods. Tinnitus from chemo. The radiation burn on my neck and upper chest was the worst side effect. That is mostly healed but still some issues. Yet all side effects are manageable. I am back to doing everything I did before as far as activities. So I consider myself very lucky and blessed at this point.
