Tobramycin side effects

Posted by tjmc @tjmc, Mar 29 10:17am

I’ve been taking tobramycin since September 2025. On the second day of my last 28 day session, the bottoms of my feet started going numb. The numbness lasted the whole 28 days and after I was finished, the feeling slowly came back to the bottoms of my feet. Has anyone else had this issue? I’m more wheezy, my voice is scratchy and I’m more out of breath during the 28 days on too but that also goes away after I stop the medication. The tobramycin has really kept me from getting infections though.

What long term effects have you had taking tobramycin?

I hear people talking about Cayston. Is that something I should ask about? Any bad side effects with that one?

@tjmc Have you reported this new side effect to the doc who prescribed Tobramycin?

I fear using the drug because it’s ototoxic. My world is getting so small with my illnesses that I can’t imagine it with impaired hearing.

@sueinmn yes I have. She contacted the Mayo Pharmacy and they didn’t think it would be a side effect of the drug. I’m going to message my doctor again this week to let her know the numbness went away after stopping the tobramycin.
