I COULDN'T WALK AT ALL BEFORE THE SURGERY. WAS IN A WHEELCHAIR. WALKING CAUSED TREMENDOUS PAIN AND WAS IMPOSSIBLE. NOW I CAN WALK ,WHICH IS A GREAT IMPROVEMENT. MY KNEE STAYS INCREDIBLY STIFF AND AM PLANNING TO TRY ACCUPUNCTURE AND SEE IF IT IMPROVES. I CONCENTRATE ON HOW HOPELESS IT WAS BEFORE TKR AND THAT REALLY HELPS.
GOING TO ACCUPUNCTURE ON SATURDAY. SURGEON VERY SATISFIED WITH MY KNEE. I AM NOT. PHYSIO NOT HELPING. VERY LITTLE BONE FORMATION ACCORDING TO X-RAY. BELIEVE SATURDAY WILL HAVE A GOOD RESULT. LANA

1 ReactionI'm 78 years old, had knee surgery when I was 19 and now currently six months after knee replacement at 104 degrees with pain. I also cannot take meds. I'm totally frustrated as I need 120 degrees to live healthy back to walking five plus miles a day and getting in and out of vehicles easily. My surgeon has given up on me so considering acupuncture as a way to get past the pain. If anyone has used acupuncture please reply. Now back to my red wine. Thank you
@gatunboy Are you willing to give physical therapy with a rehabilitative therapist (not a clinic with "interchangeable" staff and standard exercises) a try?
These docs (yes, they have a PhD in PT) have a lot of tools at their disposal.
You find such a person through a sports medicine doctor, an orthopedic hospital or a trauma center. Their focus is restoring function.

Yes. I'll try most anything and have contacted an acupuncture MD this morning to hear what he/she says. Thank you for responding.
@gatunboy I have found acupuncture a great adjunct therapy for many things over the years, but I still rely on my PT for improving function.

1 Reaction@sueinmn Thus worked for me. I went to. Sports rehab clinics for my knee and back. I would do it again. I love that you want to get back to your 5 mile walks!
