Titration with Tymlos?
I’ve recently been prescribed 80mg doses of Tymlos. I’ve been reading and have had a few bad reactions to other drugs (I’ve had Lupus since I was 62 and am now 73 ). After reading on this site I’ve recognized that some people have “built up” slowly to a full dose. They’ve started with a lower dose by clicks in the dosing pen. I asked my rheumatologist about trying this and she indicated that the manufacture of Tim Los indicated, but that wasn’t possible to do. Does anyone have any comments on this? Has anyone tried using the dosing pen in that manner? I think I’d feel more comfortable, easing onto the medication rather than taking the full dose. Thanks for your thoughts.

@gently Thank you I will give it a try!
They want to sell their drug that is why they want you to use more of it. Just like Ozempic. Doctors are prescribing too high a dose and people lose weight so fast along with muscle. Micro dose is the key with Ozempic. Peptides are not a bad thing. I would ask a doctor you trust before you start.
@harryboy7 what about the thigh, which I used for a blood-thinner after surgery…?
@dvargo I’m confused. How is Tymlos like Ozempic other than being a drug? Is there indication out there that you can gain the bone in a lesser dose?
@lp30 I am talking about dosage. How doctors over dose the meds. Ozempic is a life saver if you micro dose it. You would have to talk to your doctor about slow walking the Tymlos. Have you looked up what percentage Tymlos prevents fracture? Are there studies on how much bone you gain on Tymlos? We have to do our own research then decide.
I'm 70, female, and found out about my osteoporosis by fracturing my spine. I have been on Tymlos a full year. Started at the full dose; I want it to work! I don't ever want pain like that spine fracture again.
DEXA after 7 months showed gain of a full pint in the spine, from -3.1 to -2.1 (that is just osteopenia now). Never going back to osteoporosis again.

4 ReactionsCan someone tell me what the two black arrows mean when you click on the Tymlos pen? Is it a half dose?
@rileyf If your question is "when you see 2 black arrows is this 1/2 dose." Each click is 10 mcg. To see the 2 directional arrows in the window together, you would have had to had 4 clicks which is 40 mcg. The injection is programed at 8 clicks or 80 mcg, so the answer would be yes, the 2 arrows would be 40 mcg or 4 clicks.

1 Reaction@alicevondall I have exhaustion every day. Problem is, I don't know if it is because of living with spouse with Dementia! I have a caregiver 5 days a week, so that helps. I think I will ask my bone doc about reducing dose since I only weigh 110 and am 5'2"
