[Tip] Filter your Connect emails into a folder

The number of emails from Connect can make it difficult to see your regular mail. Here's a tip for sorting Connect-related emails into a folder.

Set up a filter or rule. (It is called different things depending on which email client you use, i.e., Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, etc.) This will send all the Connect emails into a folder and bypass your inbox. Then you can choose when to go through your Connect emails and spend time with the community.

Use the key word “@n1.hubapplication.com” as the filter.

Here’s how in Gmail. https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6579?hl=en

  1. Open Gmail.
  2. In the search box at the top, click the Down arrow.
  3. Enter your search criteria (many options are provided but you only need to fill in one) I put “@n1.hubapplication.com” into the “Has the words” field.
  4. At the bottom of the search window, click Create filter with this search.
  5. Choose what you’d like the filter to do. For example, Go to a specific folder and Skip the inbox.
  6. Click Create filter.

Please tell me how to set up one of those folders; as I had a Stroke and cannot understand directions unless they are specific and in step by step instructions!
Thanks for your help and support!

@rachelanne. The instructions I have are from Colleen. She gave the links, and I could not find that email, but finally located it. I haven't had time to set this up yet, but hope to try this afternoon.

I can give you what Colleen sent out, but I am not a computer person, so I just have to follow what someone tells me.

If this doesn't make sense, there are other Volunteer Mentors who know all about computers and what to do.

Is this too much? If it is, let me know and I'll send you to a Mentor who can make it easier. I don't understand all the steps, but I'll just try to do them and see if I can.

Here is what Colleen sent:

@colleenyoung - thank you for getting back so soon!!!! I did that once before and it helped, but lately I've been getting so many emails - don't know what caused the problem - maybe I've joined too many 'groups'? bb

@barbarn I'm glad this has helped in the past. I might suggest narrowing the number of groups and follow those that interest you the most. I know the number of emails has exponentially increased over the past month. We have truly become a victim of our success. While it is thrilling that the Connect community is growing, the notification system has not adapted well. We are currently redeveloping a better system.

In the meantime, I recommend that following:
1. Follow your primary interest groups and select to receive emails as they are posted.
2. For groups that are of secondary interest, select to be notified about them in your daily digest only. Here's how:

– Go to your Account Settings https://connect.mayoclinic.org/account/
– Scroll down to Groups and click +Edit
– Select "Include messages in email digest only" for each group you follow
– Click SAVE at the bottom of the page.

@colleenyoung “A victim of our success” I so enjoy how you worded this. This gave me an evening chuckle and a lasting smile. Congratulations on a successful community! 😊

@karen00 click on your @Username or profile picture to go to your profile. Then you will see a tab called ACCOUNT SETTINGS. In the picture, this is what it looks like on a computer. On your phone the tabs are stacked on top of one another.
