Timing of Reclast Infusion after your last Evenity Injection.

My doctor said I would not receive a DEXA Scan or start Reclast Infusions for one year from my last Evenity Injection. Can you please share what each of your doctors are advising? Thank you!

My doc said no rush, suggested 2-3 months' wait.

My dr. said 1-2 months

Mine said right away as you don’t want to lose the benefits that Evenity has given.

@sando my doctor said it takes 2-3 months for Evenity to fully mineralize bones and you don't want to interfere with that with Reclast. Clearly this needs more experience and research! I think bone markers may be helpful with this decision, especially the CTX.

Windy shores…
My doc said right away but after you’ve taken a years worth…do you think your doc meant after your 12 times …you should do the reclast 3 months from stopping evenity? Just want to be sure again….thanks !

I have 12th Evenity injections in May and I am scheduled for Reclast in June.
Now, I’m questioning this. I wonder if I should just call the office that’s doing the Reclast infusion and reschedule it for June?

@susanfalcon52 there seems to be a difference of opinion on this. I don't feel I will lose anything significant if I wait a month too long but from what my doc said, I don't want to do it too early either, in case that could interfere with mineralization (and probably not 100% interference, who knows). Keith McCormick writes about this dilemma in "Great Bones."

Can you just schedule it for July as a compromise?

And also Evenity does not completely leave a body for something like 64 days.

@sando I am going to wait two or three months from the time of the last injections. As @normahorn wrote, Evenity lasts at least 65 days in our bodies (with kidney issues, maybe more). And that may be a separate issue from the mineralization my doctor mentioned. My doctor said "there is no rush."

My endo said that I will start Reclast after one month drug break . It bothers me that these docs don’t have the same thought process .
