Tighness and pressure post robotic lobectomy: Will this pass?

Posted by yelenab @yelenab, Feb 11 4:57pm

I am 11 weeks post upper left lobe removal (lobectomy). Cancer free and very grateful. I would like to know if anyone else experienced tightness and pressure (constant) below breast area . I am not taking any meds, walking and doing light weights but the discomfort is always there. Heat and lying down makes it better. Dr, surgeon and physio are saying its normal and will pass. Anyone had that experience. Just needing a bit of reassurance. Thanks.

Congratulations on getting through a very major surgery, you’re up and about and even doing some light weights, it’s very normal to feel some discomfort and it’s only been 11 weeks post surgery. Even if your incisions are small, a lot of nerves and muscle have been cut into and naturally it will be sore for some time but be rest assured that improvement is coming soon, you mentioned that when you rest and use heat it feels better, listen to your body and take things slow and easy, the best is yet to come when the discomfort passes, best wishes with your recovery.
