Heard good and bad experiences and side effects with adding Wellbutrin. If anyone can share their thoughts.

Wellbutrin/Buproprion affects the dopamine receptors and is very effective at helping move people from the state of malaise that is a symptom of the underlying trauma that they incorrectly call depression.

SSRIs like Zoloft do not work; they are just about the same as a placebo, and the difference is not clinically significant. What SSRIs and SNRIs do is retard cognition and blunt emotions (really the same thing); this can feel like a relief from the depressive symptoms and frankly can be a welcome break from the suffering.

Unfortunately retarding cognition takes away the most critical resources needed to recover from whatever the underlying trauma is, thinking and feeling.

Pharmaceutical companies have known this for a very long time. All we are is profit centers to them.

I hope you live in peace and good health.

Polypharmacy is not good for health. Lowest dose for the shortest amount of time. Can you make different lifestyle choices that would help you.

Anyone can use an AI (which is neither artificial nor intelligent) for free. Perplexity has a free version; it is far better than using Google. What took me a month a year ago now takes minutes. Ask a question and get an answer with references attached in seconds.

I have no financial or other interest in the company. It is not public, and I do not even own the stock. It is just a tool I use in my business.

Try using Perplexity.com,

It is a search engine unlike anything you probably ever used.

Ask it anything, in plain language and you’ll be amazed.

I’ve tested it extensively for three months. It is orders of magnitude better than anything before it.

Tell everyone you know. The “system”can no longer hide information.

I have no interest in the company that makes it in anyway, they’re not even public, I can’t buy the stock or I’d pour everything I have into it.

I hope you live in peace and good health.

I was on several medications at one time with Serotonin in them. I ended up in the Emergency room out of my mind. For five days I was out of it. Thank God I came back to myself with my husband next to me.

That’s terrible. I’m sorry you had such an awful experience with these meds. I’m glad you’re OK. I appreciate you’re input.

Not knowing exactly what your medications were or your symptoms, my first guess would be that perhaps you are not able to tolerate the SSRI anti-depressants (selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors. Truly that reaction is just God-awful as I have been through that many years ago. Most of the anti-depressants are either SNRI's or SSRI's. Wellbutrin functions differently on dopamine receptors. Poly pharmacy will cause most people problems and is never a good idea. The less the better. I am truly sorry you are having difficulties with these meds. Use caution and do your research!

Overmedication by psychiatry has a long history of harm. The lowest dose for the shortest amount of time. In my past I did not look at things in my life I needed to deal with so I was one of psychiatrys guinea pigs. Not now.
