The Chat Room: A place to talk about this and that

Posted by John, Volunteer Mentor @johnbishop, Oct 3, 2020

Have you discovered mutual likes or common points of interest with other members while talking about the medical stuff? Sometimes these discoveries take us off topic.

Welcome to The Chat Room.
This is a place to talk about this and that over the backyard fence so to speak. To invite a fellow member or members to the chat room, simply mention their @username. They will get an email to join the conversation here.

Who will you invite to chat?

Colleen, I know we can click on a person's Mayo name at the top of emails and replies to get to their personal profile page and send them a private message. This also gets us to the or one of the main Mayo Connect pages from where all the other options can be accessed. Yes? I think I've answered my own question which is what is the easiest way to access one of the main Connect pages where from we can access everything. That was mainly all I wanted to know. I'm just too lazy to have to get out of where I am on Connect, to have to type the URL into a new search, to get to a main page where all my options are. Geesh, my cognitive abilities are so compromised by this Gabapentin! I used to be one of the sharpest tools in the shed but now those tools are dull and numb. At least my rationale and logic are still intact. At least I don't give up on trying to find an easier way! I think I just said that on the blog recently somewhere. Please forgive the repeat. Take care everyone, Sunny @jesfactsmon @jakedduck1

@sunnyflower, you don't have to type the URL. On a mobile phone, simply go to the menu (☰) at the top of any page you're on. At the top of any webpage on Connect, you can click the following:
1. Mayo Clinic logo: this takes you to Mayo Clinic's main information site mayoclinic.org
2. Connect: Click the blue Connect of Mayo Clinic Connect below the logo to go to the homepage of Connect
3. Search: Type a key word or phrase in the grey bar to search for any topic
4. ☰: The 3 horizontal lines are the navigation menu. Click it to see all the places you can jump to, namely:
- Home page
- the Group directory listing all groups on Connect
- Pages director listing all the expert blogs on Connect
- Events patient events calendar
- Champions for Mayo patients who share info about Mayo
- My Account this is your profile page
- Goals & Badges
- Notifications all the notifications of messages posted in groups your are following

Thank you Colleen, yes I already know this information. My issue was that I can't get on the web specifically connect, from email. Once I am on connect in the web, I can get around just fine. It was simply and only that I was trying to find a way to get there from an email.

Thank you for all your effort and time to help me but there has been a repetition of information that I already know which makes me wonder if I am not communicating adequately?

Please let me know and take good care, hope you have a great day, Sunny 🤗😊🌹

@colleen, @sunnyflower, Good afternoon you two.......I just want to pop in and maybe help. I opened my iPhone, clicked on Safari, typed Mayo Connect.......which searched for the URL as Colleen said. It may be incompatible browsers or one that doesn't search advantageously. Just read about that issue.......time.....3 seconds. Let's test again.

Hi Chris, thank you for taking the time. Once I am on the web I can get around in Connect. The information I was asking, is, is there a way to get to connect on the web from an email or from The View end reply which essentially brings us to connect on the web.

I understand that in an e-mail, I can click on a person's Mayo name right from my inbox to get to them on the Connect web. I just did not want to have to go to leave my email inbox, go to a search engine and type in the URL to get me to Connect on the web. Just being lazy and trying to make it easier.

Hope you have a good day, take care, Sunny

I don’t specifically remember what Colleen was saying about that now but when I go into the Internet from my iPhone I have no problem going to whatever discussion I want. Perhaps I’m not understanding what you’re saying.

Thank you Colleen that is so good to know! I did not know about the "just want to talk" or the "unsubscribe" but the unsubscribe is obvious. Thanks for the diagrams they are extremely helpful! Take care, sunny

I think you’re under the impression that I live in Connecticut, If that’s correct I just wanted you to know that I live in Central California.
Take care,
