Textile Dermatitis

Does anyone been diagnosed or have issues with textile dermatitis? Preferably the catch stitch on the sides of the jeans/pants where the threads of the seams are sewn together?

Sometimes I have had to sew 100% cotton binding over seams in clothing. This often happens when nylon thread is used in one of the needles or loopers on the commercial machine. It is prone to breaking and leaving irritating thread ends poking out. It also happens with some sewn-in labels. Another trick is to run your finger over the seamline, and if there are rough spots, burn them with a lighter or match -the end will melt and turn into a little round ball.

Besides those ways is there another way to make those seams not so painful? I'm also on gabapentin will taking that plus putting moisturizering cream or lotion help my skin not feel so painful?

Would using a body wash with oatmeal in it potentially help the textile dermatitis?

My son had the problem, with patches on shirts, polyester stitching on seams and necklines and labels. Cotton was also a better choice. Eventually, we found that somewhat older clothes were better for him; sometimes I did an extra rinse with white vinegar. It is a "typical" condition with those who have sensory differences. I use baby diaper cream for irritated areas.

You mean you put baby diaper cream on the areas that the shirts irritated him?
