Symptoms of Neuropathy, Fatigue, Tinnitus, M-Spike

Posted by billwb @billwb, May 3, 2023

I am 61 years old and have been a healthy and active person all my life. Within short period of time I came down with symptoms of fatigue, brain fog, peripheral neuropathy, tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and what is called M-Spike a little over a year ago. The neuropathy in my feet is what bothers me the most and cannot find any real help. Taking Gabapentin, but really does not help too much. I am convinced it had something to do with the Covid vaccine and was wondering if anyone has experienced the same type of symptoms and have diagnosis being related to Covid vaccines?

Sounds like a plan. However my GP knew nothing about vitamins and supplements. My neurologist did support Alpha Lipoic Acid since some research supported it. But little research on vitamins and supplements. Can you imagine the FDA supporting research of 100's of vitamin companies? Plus Big Pharma would definitely get in the way with politicians on the take.

From my readings others have stood out; D3 and Magnesium (L-Threonate/best absorbed), CoQ10 especially ones with Fish Oil, Vitamin C, B3 Niacin, Folate and Benfotiamine. Careful with B6 too much is harmful. Check each for dose and source.

I take Gabapentin and had the Covid vaccines and I have not noticed any changes in how the Gabapentin works. However, not everyone's body reacts the same way to medications or a combination of medications. I hope someone out there has the answer you need!

I researched Tinnitus online and its not caused by hearing loss like most doctors will tell you. Its a short circuit in the brain. Again the nervous system is responsible for the confusion in transmission of network messages. I had my hearing tested and its good 80% at my age of 72.
Still no treatment that works for me either.

My ENT put it this way: the void created by hearing loss triggers the brain to basically "fill in" the sound that is missing. My slight hearing loss (in one ear) is at a frequency that doesn't effect my day to day interactions, so a hearing aid is not necessary. They say hearing aids can help with tinnitus, but who knows. I'm 72 as well. The neuropathy pain usually overrides the annoyance of tinnitus, but both "afflictions" are challenging, to say the least.

Appreciate the feedback. Research did show B12 can be a cause of neuropathy, fortunately for me it is good, but will look into magnesium glycinate.

think you meant to say: B6 can cause neuropathy, not B12!

Hi......I have read these 2 stories about the presumption that Tinnitus is caused by PN. I have been wondering if this wasn't the case in my experience. I can't remember when the Tinnitus started but I am 67 and have had CKD for at least 10 years that I know of. I am a Stage 4 now and am striving to watch my eating and beverage consumption. I do drink alot of water and my Nephrologist at Mayo is very pleased that I am remaining stable over the last year. It's a hard change to get used to. The Gabapentin caused me to gain a lot of weight bbc I was always trim and now am mildly obese. I have stopped taking it for now and can say I am doing well w/o it. My balance is my worst problem. I bought some good arch support shoes which seem to help stabilize me. One day at a time. 🙏
