What were your symptoms before getting diagnosed with bladder cancer?
Hello, I just joined and am glad I found this support group. I've had blood in my urine, bright and dark red for over a month now. CT came back normal, no infection etc. Doctor is concerned that it is cancer. My question is..... did any of you have pain urinating and/or pain in back or bladder area? What other symptoms has anyone experienced?

Hi my name is Pete. I have prostate cancer and do for surgery in 2 weeks yo remove my prostate. I found my lower back and groin area were very sore. I had the procedure done upmy penis and they should the cancer in my prostate.
I have had two urine samples recently which show a small amount of blood, nothing you can see without lab work. After a recent hip operation I had urinary frequency but that has since gone away. I was on aspirin and Aleve and for over a month. I continue with Aleve for arthritis and have been using it for several years and wonder if that could be causing the blood?
No other symptoms. My urologist will be doing a cystoscopy and I was wondering if that is painful? Now am worried about bladder cancer.
Hi, I’m new to the group and new to bladder cancer, having been diagnosed about two weeks ago.I had a cystoscopy and it didn’t hurt at all. (If you’re a woman, think pelvic exam.) Be happy you’ve had urine sampled, earlier detection is always better. I hope you are well. Take what I’ve said above as my best thoughts, the learning curve is steep and I am still near the bottom.
RSand here. I was urinating up to 8 times a night, and had times of urgent urination for about 8 months.
A friend suggested going to a urologist.
And my PCP said I should have a CT scan.
There it was on the scan. A tumor which was removed.
Now on 5 weeks of BCG treatments to kill any lingering "c" cells.
Hope this helps, and best thoughts to you.
I had a urine cytology done last week and the report came back negative for high grade urothelial carcinoma. I read that a negative report does not confirm the absence of cancer. So I'm in a strange limbo. My friends are trying to be supportive but to their ears this report means I don't have cancer and that I need to shut up and quit worrying about it. I'm 74.5 years old and a former smoker and so considered a high risk for cancer. I'm scheduled for a cystoscopy in 3 weeks and hope that there will be concrete evidence either way. Has anyone received a negative cytology report but then received a cancer diagnosis? The quest is to discover the reason for the microscopic blood hematuria in the urine. Grateful for this group.
My situation was different but I think you're very wise to follow up further. Hopefully everything will be fine and it will ease your worry. You are listening to your instincts and that's important especially when it comes to your health. I wish you all the best.
I received a negative urine cytology report and then had a cystoscope which revealed high grade urothelial cancer. It’s best to have it checked out. I’m praying they will not find any cancer when you have the scope.
thank you. I don't want to go in thinking nothing is wrong but trying to stay positive. It's a delicate balance.
Was wondering how long was it between the cytology report and the cystoscope exam?
It was 2 weeks.
Yes, it’s a fine line trying to be positive but also realizing it could be something else. It can be very frustrating & hard to convey your feelings to someone that isn’t dealing with it.
