I’m sorry, you have GCA? I thought we were talking about PMR. I really don’t know much about GCA other than you might start out at a higher dose of prednisone.
Take care.

Researchers are now saying that PMR and GCA are so closely related that they may be two aspects of the same condition.

To Bunnykfl, looking back at some of my comments I feel like a idiot and wanted to apologise for my adolescent behavior. Please speak with your rheumatologist and keep us updated on your progress. Wishing you the best on this health journey.
Take care

In my year and a half of PMR I’ve had pain and stiffness travel from shoulders and hips to arms to hands and wrists and then to back (the worst) to ribs and then to front of chest, including right breast. Quite painful but not swollen or worse when touched. This is not from prednisone since I’ve never taken it.

Looked this up in my Mayo Clinic book on Arthritis and there was no mention of breast involvement. But it did say GCA could involve the arteries in the “upper body”. So it could involve the breasts but it must be rare since they don’t specifically mention that. It’s still scary and needs to be checked out because it mimics breast cancer symptoms.

Prior to the PMR, I was diagnosed last summer with fluidy cysts in my breasts. I'll know next month if they are still there when I have my mammogram.
