SVT ablation
Good evening, I had a SVT ablation approximately 7 months ago. And for whatever reason I am still experiencing sharp pains around my heart which causes me to to have a severe panic attack and has wound up in the emergency room several times thinking that I'm having a heart attack. My cardiologist has put me on the heart monitor three times and each time that it's come back the diagnosed was no arrhythmia no SVT. I feel like there is still something wrong. Is anyone experiencing the same thing? Or is this all in my head. Thanks

I would ask for tests to rule out pericarditis. It happens more often than we want to think after ablations. I am still recovering from my SVT ablation that, although "cured" the SVT, caused cardiac tamponade (they had to do CPR to bring me back) and widespread inflammation resulting in pericarditis and I've had to be on meds for a full year. I am hopeful that I can put this behind me by May. But any sharp pains.....I would insist on an echocardiogram to make sure there is no fluid around your heart as well as lab work with CRP and ESR and Fibrinogen to see if your inflammatory markers are raised and if it continues, ask for a heart MRI to make sure there is no thickening of the pericardium. You don't want to ignore this. I was very proactive after my surgery and in excellent health before the surgery (exercise instructor) but so sick at the beginning. I reached out daily and was told that "everyone heals differently." Finally my local doctor insisted that the specialists see me stat and I had to have my pleural spaces drained because the inflammation caused so much fluid to accumulate there. I was just lucky fluid didn't come back around my heart. Are you taking colchicine? NSAIDS? If not, you should ask your cardiologist or whoever did your surgery if you should be taking colchicine. Best to you.

I'd love to have a list of in-depth questions to ask him regarding my SVTs and his recommendations (whatever they turn out to be). I am a member of a patient group for an eye condition where a list of such questions is provided. Does anyone here know of a source for such questions re SVT, medical treatments, ablations, etc?
