Suggestions for continuous oximeter use with CPAP

Posted by p2222 @p2222, Apr 27, 2020

I am a long time user of CPAP devices and would like to explore the use of continuous oximeter devices to see if my oxygen levels are reasonable. Does anyone use an oximeter with their CPAP - if so, what is your experience with it, how do you read the results, etc.

Hi @p2222, I've only used an oximeter prior to having an overnight sleep study. I think it would be a great question to ask your sleep doctor to see if their is an upside to using an oximeter with the CPAP to check the effectiveness of the CPAP. Hoping if there are others who are using one they will share their experience with you. Where did you get the suggestion for using the oximeter with your CPAP?

In response to where I got the suggestion for oximeter use - I am curious about my O2 readings throughout my sleep cycle and would like to see if low readings coincide with when I wake up at various times throughout my sleep cycle. My CPAP readings are all within reasonable levels but I am thinking that my nose pillows may be too loose. Of course, I could tighten them up and see what happens but I want to see the data. Just curious.

@p2222, nothing wrong with being curious unless you are a cat 🙂 I too was curious about all of the CPAP data stored on the SD card until I installed SleepyHead and then it was information overload for me. O2 readings throughout the sleep cycle may be helpful although I've never thought about it.
