Stenosis/ pain

Posted by zeppo @zeppo, Jun 22, 2022

Wondering what others are doing in dealing with nerve leg pain from Stenosis. An exercise triggered this ( stenosis obviously long term) and now dealing with sciatica and leg pain for several months. Just started PT and had an epidural. Has anyone proceeded to a laminotomy with good results?

My husband was not able to sit or hardly walk. He was diagnosed to have spinal stenosisbased on mri. His miracle pill is meloxicam 15mg. It’s unbelievable how it helps him. He also does simple exercises for about 10 min every night.

Hi Amanda,
Well I’ve had PT now , about 5 sessions and I’m not really noticing any change. Just had the epidural 5 days ago, the dr said it may take 7-10 days to see any effect. So am feeling discouraged. I have stenosis and mild scoliosis. Starting a new regimen of acupuncture next week. This is an acupuncturist who has experience with stenosis. Re the epidural, about 85% people have some improvement. I hope to see some change soon.

I have/had severe cervical spinal stenosis to the point that my cord got badly compressed. I had several epidurals and they worked right away for me, I'm sorry to say to you. When the doctor puts the steroid into the disc they always should do it higher than the bad disc as it will go down to that space. Do you have a copy of your MRI? I would need more information to help you. This year I found out I also have lumber scoliosis and the neurologist said correcting it is a major surgery so I'm praying symptoms won't be for a long time

Hello, I am new to this group and am thankful to find it. I have what was called mild lumbar spinal stenosis when I had an MRI about 4 years ago. My pain and weakness has increased though in the past 6 months to the point I can't enjoy doing anything anymore. I just want to sit in my chair where it doesn't hurt. My right leg is weak, I have leg and foot cramps often, lose my balance, cannot stand in one spot for more than 10 minutes, and tire easily just getting through the grocery store. I have had 3 epidurals that did provide relief for about 6 months each and I take Diclofenac 75 MG twice a day as an anti inflammatory. What else should I be trying? Does Physical Therapy help? Has anyone heard of the MILD procedure? I want to keep surgery as a last resort and this procedure sounds minimally invasive. Please share your thoughts. I want to start feeling better. Thank you.

I’ve had physical therapy, acupuncture, tens unit and epidural. The last helped the back pain a lot. The others didn’t help at all. My back pain isn’t as bad as my leg pain. I don’t think it’s sciatica again. Can’t think what to try. Balance is off too because of the pain in the bottom of my feet

Maybe your hips need an adjustment. Talk w/ a chiropractor. May I ask how many treatments do you do with acupuncturist? Acupuncture isn’t like a one shot treatment. It has worked well for me. My Serrates Anterior muscle and thoracic area is affected from mastectomy. Blessings.

I have severe lumbar spinal stenosis. L4 &5. My neuropathy and leg cramping came after that diagnosis. It just seems to be getting worse. Any suggestions. I don’t want surgery. A laminectomy

Yes, he does every day exercises. But one Meloxicam pill a day and he is like he used to be.

I found relief from my lumbar stenosis using an inversion table. Some chiropractors use them.
