Stem Cell Transplant (autologous)

Posted by kjs1015 @kjs1015, Oct 26, 2011

I have non Hodgkin's Lymphoma. R-CHOP chemo didn't work. Now the plan is RICE / BEAM then stem cell transplant. They will use my own stem cells.

I am optimistic and have tons of faith.

I would like to hear from anyone that has been through this.

Mainly I am worried about the side effects of the RICE chemo...

Thanks in advance

Kevin

Had it seven years ago and it failed me. If I could do it over, I would go the allogenic BMT route. The autologous BMT uses your cells instead of someone elses. Problem is they don’t know if they are putting cancer cells back in the body when they do the transplant. The checkpoint inhibitor Keytruda worked for me after 5 major treatments failed me.CART cell failed me but lots of people have had good outcomes.

What is checkpoint inhibitor Keytruda please. I never heard of that before. I am scheduled to get stem cell transplant end of October.

Google it. You will learn all about it. Keytruda in most cases is only available after a failed stem cell transplant. Are you scheduled for an autologous or allogenic stem cell transplant?

Autologous transplant.

Do you understand that with autologous procedure they may be putting cancer cells back in your body?
