Stem Cell Support/ PRP for Severe Osteo
Does anyone have expereince with Stem Cell or Plasma Rich Protein support for sever osteo? I have exhausted the known medications - tymlos then Evenity and I still am fracturing lower limbs.
I have had every test known ( kidney, cancer, inflammation, thyroid, gut full skeletal dysplasia work up, cushings, hpp, etc etc) I appear healthy in every way...No steriod use or conflicting medicines no radiation ( expcet xrays) . Any help is appreciated, thank you

I've had experience with PRP/Stem cells for osteoarthritis and ligament repair. It's my view that it is for localized specific treatment. I've not heard of it for osteoporosis. Keep researching and hopefully the studies will give you information. Finding someone to do the treatment is also a challenge.
UC Davis is doing new studies with Stem cells along with PTH medications - but I am unclear how to get more information about this. I am hoping someone on this forum may have information or even actual expereince.
Thank you and good health to you.

1 ReactionMy sports medicine doc uses it for regular arthritis but only localized. He mentions he’s had great success with knees. I am considering for shoulders. Not covered by insurance. Not sure what this would mean for osteoporosis. Agree with prior poster who said best luck might be with university doing research.
Stem cell therapy is being studied as a potential treatment for osteoporosis, mainly using mesenchymal stem cells that may help form new bone and regulate bone remodeling, but it is still experimental and not FDA-approved. Most of the research comes from animal studies or small early human trials, with inconsistent results and no strong evidence that it reliably improves bone density or prevents fractures.
Clinics that offer stem cell treatments for osteoporosis are operating outside standard medical guidelines, often at high cost and with uncertain safety and benefit. For now, proven treatments remain the standard of care, including medications like Bisphosphonates, Denosumab, Teriparatide, Abaloparatide, and Romosozumab, along with weight-bearing exercise, calcium, vitamin D, and fall prevention, all of which have strong evidence for improving bone strength and reducing fracture risk.
Hopefully they'll figure something out before I fracture or die - whichever comes first. :{

3 ReactionsThank you for your kind interest in this topic. The reason I am looking into stem cell is beacuse standard therapy has not worked for me and I am still fracturing- part of my limitation is the not being able to do weight bearing becasue fractures are in the lower limbs and bones not strong enough ( yet) to support more then gentle weight. Four years ago I was an active yoga intructor - suddenly fractured one foot, then the other... now my lower leg... I am just restarting to be able to stand and walk but there is . I am 771 abd saddly in wheelchair to go outside the house.
I was on tymlos/ 6 weeks actonel and then non repsonsive to evenity and fractured on it. I have been through more tests than I knew possible ( kidney, cancer, gut, inflammation, thyroid, genetics, cushings, hpp, elhers danlos,etc etc) I have corrected many imblances ( high vit d, high homosystein,) I look healthy and have great energy... my diet is excellent although my protein needs some support. . have no prior steriod or medication history. NO radiation history ( excpet alot of xrays) No alcohol or smoking. No one in my family has osteoporosis. Medical history shows that I was diagnosed in 40 with malnutrion however and I was underweight. Recently I finally brought my weight to 125.
My endos are baffled and I need help to look outisde the box and find a path to healing. all support is appriociated. Good health to you.
