Stem Cell Replacement
Hi. I have just been diagnosed with ET and my bone marrow tests show I would be a good candidate for stem cell replacement. Anyone else heard that this is a good way to go for remission?

My mom (67) was diagnosed with primary cns lymphoma back in February. She has just completed 8 rounds of chemo! Now we are waiting to see about her getting a stem cell transplant but the appt isn’t until the end of August. We would love to connect and hear your story!
You are welcome to ask me any questions. I believe God performed a miracle in me through Mayo doctors. I was dying in Colorado hospital with no diagnosis. I was airlifted to Mayo & they had diagnosis in 5 days! God put on my heart that everything would be ok & it was.
I pray all goes well for your mom.

1 ReactionWelcome to Connect, @bnh161 Your mom is sure a trooper having completed the 8 rounds of chemo for her central nervous system lymphoma (CNS). That’s not an easy feat for anyone. Hopefully the next few months will bring her some much needed rest from treatment and let the healing begin.
It sounds like her doctors have recommended a stem cell transplant (SCT) for her. As @secglc2 mentioned it can feel like a miracle and a life saver for many of us. I’m 6 years post transplant and cancer free from another form of leukemia. While the SCT isn’t a walk on the beach, it is worth the effort for the gift of a 2nd chance at life.
If you and your mom are interested in more SCT stories, there’s a growing number of us sharing our journeys in the forum. Here’s a discussion I started several years ago which will introduce you the group:
My bone marrow transplant story: Will you share yours?

Since the stem cell transplant requires a lengthy period of time at a clinic/hospital setting, does your mom live near a transplant center? Do you have any specific questions about what to expect?
@secglc2, you'll notice that I removed your personal phone number. Connect is a public forum. We recommend sharing personal contact information using the secure private message function. I might also add that by sharing here in the forum, you are connecting with several people where all can benefit from group support.
