Starting Forteo/teriparatide
Starting this drug in the next week. Thinking about taking it in the late afternoon/early evening. Hoping to sleep off/thru any side effects. Any comments/recommendations on a this approach? Thanks!

I took it first thing in the morning. I had no side effects after the first 2 weeks. Thee side effects I did have were minimal. I finished up 11 months ago. I chose morning because I wanted to have my day clear for the rest of the day.
So that I do not forget to take my injection of Forteo, I take it every morning before coffee. After the first three weeks my side effects were almost gone because my body got used to it. Taking it every night is no issue, as long as you remember.
I started Forteo using in the evenings before bed and also in the afternoon. Had terrible side effects, headaches and fatigue. I switched to first thing in the morning and the side effects went away.
I started taking teriparatide about 2 weeks ago. I take it in the morning to get it out of the way and make sure I do not forget it or get sleepy/tired in the evening before giving it and end up missing it. My side effects have been so minimal they barely qualify--the very slightest sensation of lightheadedness that soon passes, and sometimes not even that.
I do mine in the morning too, so I never forget. For the first month or so, I was extremely tired with occasional heart palpitations, but my body got used to the drug. It’s been 5 months and all is well:)
just wanted to take the time to thank all who are responding, very much appreciated! ❤️
Been stressing about this so your info has been very helpful!
I take mine before bed because I tend to go to bed at more or less the same time. I can be either up early and rushing or up later and I forget to take it. Side effects are wearing off now as I go into month 3. They weren't too severe anyway. Good Luck
I take it midday my side effects are 24 hours later I feel nauseous for a while which reminds me of taking it It’s being 3 months and the side effects are the same, once I took it at night but it didn’t work as I woke up feeling nauseous the next night. It’s not terrible, it’s what it is !
Does anybody know how to adjust the preloaded pen for Forteo and/or teriparatide. I want to start with a half a dose because I was so sick on TYMLOS. My doctor said to just inject every other day but I’d rather try everyday ant an half dose and then build up to a full dose. Is that possible
Hi @strongerbones Forteo pen is not adjustable. I tried with a used Forteo pen with leftover doses once.
When you load the pen with a dose, you could hear numerous clicks, however you could only load with a full dose in order to deliver a dose.
As you deliver a dose by pushing the plunger, you could also hear many clicks, but they are not calibrated to any corresponding fractional doses.
Every other day dosing with Forteo is a strategy some endos use for people who are sensitive to this drug. Hope you get adjusted to it in no time!
