Are staphylococcus aureus and pseudomonas aeruginosa contagious?

Are staphylococcus aureus and pseudomonas aeruginosa contagious? Thinking of spouse and friends.

@payette78 In your lungs or elsewhere?
If it is in your lungs or sinuses, ordinary sanitary precautions of not leaving tissues for others to pick up, not sharing food or cups, chapstick or washcloths, covering coughs and frequent handwashing are sufficient. Frequent surface cleaning of food prep, bathroom and high-touch areas (cupboard, drawer and door handles, light switches, faucets) with either soap and friction or a sanitizer and wiping is also recommended.

If it is in an open wound, staph is highly contagious, and pseudomonas moderately so, so complete infection precautions need to be observed to avoid spreading it.

Also, if you are around anyone who is immuno-compromised while you are infected, an N-95 mask and infection precautions are necessary.

My spouse lived with me through my treatment, including a months-long staph infection in a wound last year, and he did not catch anything.

Thank you. I should have mentioned staph and pseudomonas were both found in lung tissue.
