Stage 3a, EGFR

I am newly diagnosed with stage 3 ckd, with an EGFR of 56. Everything I’ve read states you cannot increase your EGFR level, however I have heard a few people say that with a lot of hard work, theirs increased. Has anyone experienced this?

Hi,
Been through my diet several times with Dr's that think it is the answer. Sadly when they see my weekly food intake they realise food is not the cause. I essentially eat the same thing day in and day out, boring! What I eat is barely enough to survive on, without the vitamins prescription I wouldn't exist. I suspect that the Autonomic issues have a lot to do with all the medical problems and medication side effects. This morning without doing anything different than any other day I test at 17.1 glucose level, if I get to 18 I'm in serious trouble. Heaven knows what happens when I hit glucose 20. It is going to be a foodless day. I can't account for it, I thought I had a reasonable day yesterday even managing to get a short walk in, unaided. Beggars' belief, little wonder the diabetic specialists have given up on me. They claim they have used every tool in their magic box, and they probably have, without any success. At least they have all tried to help.
Now on minimum medication just enough to keep ticking over, vitamins, laxatives, stomach meds and a token small dose of blood pressure med to stop the 24/7 migraines but not reduce the bp enough to cause bad side effects.
I was always a big veggie eater but that has had to stop with digestive problems, can't touch fruit or a lot of anything, food seems to be a big problem now for me. I just do what I can for however long I can.
Despite the gravity of my situation I focus on thinking I'm OK, I can still walk, talk and cause trouble, it can't be all bad. Until I get a tap on the shoulder telling me time is up, I'll just keep plugging away forever hopeful tomorrow might be a better day.
You are right, getting off crap food does make you feel better. In my earlier days of kidney troubles that was a lightbulb moment for me. You have to experience it to appreciate it.
Cheers
