Experience with spinal cord myelomalacia at C5-C6 to C6-C7?

Posted by kenthib @kenthib, Nov 22, 2019

After emergency surgery for an epidural abscess I have spinal cord malacia at C5-C6 to C6-C7. I have found information on the surgical procedure but nothing on the post-op prognosis. I wonder how this will affect my future. Does anyone have experience with this condition?

Hello @kenthib. Would you care to share a bit more about your malacia, does this mean your spinal cord has 'softened'? What procedure are you facing as a result of you malacia? Connect members may have a better idea of what post-op prognosis and experiences are like of they understand the procedure you are facing?

Did you ever find any information? I've had laminectomy surgery but like you, can't find much information on prognosis. I've been told not to worry and it doesn't need monitoring. I feel that I've been slowly loosing full use of my hand which has now begun twitching at rest. Did you ever find a doctor who is knowledgeable to give you some credible feedback?
