Spiculated nodule

Hi. New to this group. I have prostate cancer, COPD, emphysema and multiple nodules in my lungs. I had a wedge resection a few years ago but no cancer now a resent CT showed a 5 mm Spiculated nodule. I have my three month repeat ct tomorrow. I know I have to wait for the results to see if it’s growing. I’m just wondering if anyone has had that kind of nodule? Everything I’ve read said they are 90-98% cancerous. They put me in a lung nodule and lung cancer clinic. Thanks for any information.

Hello @7ruth, welcome to Mayo Connect. Being nervous before a surgery like this is expected. It sounds like you have the best care available and your faith to see you through this challenging time. It's not usual for the diagnosis and surgery scheduling to take some time. How was your cancer identified?

I had a melanoma on my temple area. I was given a PET scan to see if there skin cancer had moved anywhere. It hadnt but they found the tumour in my lung.
Lucky really in a way as its stage 1A.
But… I have a hereditary gene mutation…which most likely helped the cancer in the lung. I dont really understand the mechanisms of it
Thanks so much for your message Tomorrow starts the procedure …

A spiculated nodule found by accident was my first sign of EGFR non small cell lung cancer. When he saw the scan, my doctor told me it was probably cancer. Good news is it was found early. Don’t despair until you have all the info you need.
