Sotalol. Any feedback? To address V tachichardia and Afib/Aflutter

Posted by azogby @azogby, 3 days ago

I was advised to begin Sotalol which requires 3 day in-hospital monitoring to initiate. This is to address V tachichardia and Afib/Aflutter. I have an ICD with defib ever since V tach caused a sudden cardiac arrest in 2021. No symptoms prior. In 3 years since I've had 3 more V tachs (plus development of Aflutter and Afib), and the ICD did its job each time. I have tried to be on 2 different beta blockers and couldn't tolerate either. This is MD's idea for a next step. Any feedback, pro/con or warnings appreciated. Overweight but generally active 58 yr old female.

Hi @azogby I was on this for a couple of years back in 2016-2017. I had been on 2 other drugs prior to that Amiodarone and Mexiletine. My EP Doctor was having a hard time trying to control my VT and He was looking at Heart transplant as the next step which did happen in Jan 2018.
But as for your question I was pretty drugged up being on 3 different anti arrythmia meds and even my Pharmacist was questioning it. So Im not sure Im typical. But it along with the other 2 keep me going for a couple of years and I don't remember any side affects for that particular med. Its been around for a while as that was almost 10 years ago.
