Some things never change-1977 observations-stopping Prednisone in PMR

I'm a history buff for old medical research. I seek out the newer research but the older stuff is just as fascinating to me. Maybe we could start a discussion about older research into PMR. I'm amazed by how little things have changed in nearly 50 years.

This link says there is no difference in abrupt withdrawal of Prednisolone compared with withdrawing by "slow decrements."

This link should start on page 219 but there is a way to page to 220 and beyond.

I am on 8 mg of prednisone, trying to get to 7. By the end of the day I am anxious and not sleeping well. Is this normal? No pain, but anxious makes me nervous. Madeline

I'm currently at 5 mg. I've had trouble sleeping for the two weeks that I've been at that dose. I've also had a few days in general tapering below 10 mg where I've had some mood swings.

I've heard that anxiety is fairly common when people taper prednisone. I found this thread when I did a search in Google: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/prednisone-withdrawal/

Hi @dadcue, If you like looking for older research, have you tried searching with Google Scholar (https://scholar.google.com/)? It allows you to search with custom date ranges like this one from 1950 to 1977:
