socks and neuropathy please read

I have neuropathy in my feet and in the tips of my fingers. It bothers me tremendously it hurts, stings burns, etc. The strange thing about it is, I feel like I have socks on and cannot take them off. It feels like sometimes they are too tight and hurting the end of my toes. I can push my skin down and it helps sometimes. I am not crazy, this is true. Does anyone else have this problem? It is an awful feeling all the time. Never heard anyone else say this. Don't know what king of neuropathy I have. Fay

Orthofeet has some socks created for neuropathy that are super soft and loose in the toes. They are probably more expensive than they should be, but they are comfortable! Actually, so are their shoes. I remember that feeling that my sock was bunched up under my feet.

@vicmar that's where it all started for me, that wadded up sock feeling. Then the sensation moved up my calves and someone described that like having blood pressure cuffs on your calves inflated too tight. It's not quite pain, but it's not comfortable. Stretching helps.

I have experienced this as well. I have told my doctor, but he didn't have any advice.

I wear SmartWool socks to bed and I live in Pa where it’s currently cold. I no longer have cold feet or cramps. I also incorporated a heating pad for my back and that has also helped tremendously with leg issues at sleep.

@dj12 I currently have 2 issues with the right foot, Morton's Neuroma that is a painful condition with nerve tissue caused by wearing shoes with little or no room to accommodate my flat feet along with neuropathy so my options were limited. I currently own Hoka brand tennis shoes in a 4x width and wear women's nylon calf high stockings to eliminate at least some of the perspiration during the summer. if the socks have small ribs along the top of the foot like all of them do they tend to exacerbate the morton's issue but thanks anyway

@desilfitter411 I have found that I can use scissors to snip the top of the sock down about one inch at the rear, above the ankle. This removes the tension of the rib around the top of the sock but the socks still stay up.

I wear the hospital socks to bed so I can sleep at night. I cannot feel anything during the day. I wear compression socks for CHF. My feet are cold to touch. My fingers hurt in the winter months. Lyrica with Cymbalta seems to be a good combination to minimize my symptoms.

The end of my toes hurt like you describe. It is painful and irritating Bamba socks have no seam there. They help. My calves feel like tight bands are around them. I count myself lucky. I am not in constant pain and can still function. I hope it doesn’t get any worse.
Wishing for both of us it would just go away.

I have been using Alpha Lipoid Acid. It is a capsule that you can buy> I get mine on Amazon, it is cheaper. I take 600mg morning and night. started off with 33mg and had to increase it 600mg later on. It it the same thing that is in all of the nerve medicine for Neuropathy, but it don't have all the other things in it, That I found you do not need. I didn't anyway. I just take the Alpha Lipoid Acid Capsule twice a day and it has helped me tremendously. Please try it, It is a lot cheaper and works. just be sure you have something on your stomach or eat something of drink something. It can cause your stomach to burn if you don't. I love it I get the name brand Nutricost from Amazon. You get 240 capsules for $24.89. you can get smaller size cheaper. Try it and let me know how you like it .God bless everyone and good luck Happy New Year
