2 Reactions@indalee1959, it's better not to attach your report through your patient portal here on the public forum. I hope you were able to review the details of the report with your doctor today.
How did the appointment go? What did you find out?
I have stage 1 adenocarcinoma no lymph nodes involved. I go for a pet scan on the 17 th and than will get radiation therapy for 5 days in a row. She gave me the option of surgery or radiation but said the surgery is very painful and a long recovery period, So between her and I, I am going to do radiation, I will need follow up visits etc and I also have a 9 mm in my left lung which will be watched also. I have no idea what the radiation is like, any side effects or anything else. I will see a radiology oncologist. I see my hematologist/oncologist on Tues I want his opinion, Any feedback will be appreciated.

2 Reactions@indalee1959 I'm sure that wasn't the news you were hoping for, but I'm thankful the nodules were found early. I think your plan to talk to your hematologist oncologist and consider your treatment options in the context of your leukemia (treatment) is wise. I'm a big fan of second opinions and seeing the best doctor(s) that you can. I haven't had surgical or radiation treatment, so I'll let others weigh in on that.

2 Reactions@indalee1959 I have been following your posts....and I could relate to the panic you felt, as I felt the same way. The word cancer it'self is enough to send you into a tailspin. Due to my age (74 at the time,) and past smoking (quit 9 years ago,) I did not qualify for surgery. It sounds like you may be getting the same treatment as I did. SBRT radiation treatment for five days. First I went to the radioligist to be mapped out for treatments. The Treatment was nothing more than feeling like I was getting a pet scan, each time. Nothing to it, and I really had no side effects for quite some time. I developed some neuropathy in my legs and my feet, cleared up after a few weeks of physical therapy. Right now I am dealing with a couple fractured ribs. I read that it is common with SBRT radiation treatments. I also have osteoporosis, so it is taking me some time to heal. The five treatments killed the cancer!
So I can't complain to much about the side effects. You should do just fine. God Bless

5 Reactions@indalee1959 what size is the stage 1 adenocarcinoma? So glad no lymph nodes are involved! How did your doctor determine that?
I had c scans done than a biopsy , I think the size of the nodule was determined by the c scan. It is 1.4 cm by 1.1 cm, the left lung I have one that a .9 that will be watched
Mine was Stage 1 adenocarcinoma and was 2.3 cm which is 23 mm! I had the surgery, they removed the bottom lobe of right lung and no nodes involved either. I am so blessed. But I will have to have CT scans (and boy do I have scanxiety) for the rest of my life - of course starting with 3 months, then graduate to 6 months and eventually (at about 3-4 years) go to one time a year......is that normal? Does anyone know? I was wanting scans a little more frequently until at least 3 years but my oncologist is bucking me.
How was the surgery done. I was told it is a hard surgery to recuperate from and more pain than open heart. Did they go through your side ribs,I can't wait for the pet scan on the 17 th and than I can start the radiation, I know I will have anxiety like you plus having the .9 cm in the other lung.
