Smelly armpits

This may sound weird, but for the past two months I have had a really strong chemical smell in my armpits. No amount of washing, perfumed soaps, deodorants, and antiperspirants stop it. It’s always there, even as I get out of the shower. I’ve read that kidney disease can do that, but I’m only stage 3a so I doubt that’s it. I’m very self-conscious about it when I’m around people. My doctor had no explanation (other than his default diagnosis of mental health issues due to PTSD). Has anyone else had this problem?
