Sleep paralysis during naps

Posted by fuzzlepuff @fuzzlepuff, Jun 23 7:53pm

So if I take a nap every day, I will get sleep paralysis every day. It happens every single time I take a nap during the day. Not sure why. I see a sleep specialist in the coming weeks but has anyone experienced it this often or know why? I don't nap everyday but when I do, it is guaranteed I will get sleep paralysis. I also feel like I can't breathe when it happens as well. I don't have sleep apnea.

Thank you! It just seems a little different than the typical sleep paralysis.

What is the duration of your nap? If it goes longer than about 75-80 minutes, there's a good chance you are entering REM state just about then...as most of us do. Otherwise, I have to tap out...sorry. But I hope you get an answer.

I'm so very sorry that you experience sleep paralysis every day when you rest. Is it momentarily or does it last for some time? What does your physician say about this condition and surely there must be a remedy for it.

I experienced sleep paralysis once after getting a new prescription for blood pressure. Since l had changed pharmacies l could only assume that their sourcing had changed from the previous pharmacy. I fell asleep while watching television and woke up, could see my body but could not move and actually thought that l was dead. It was terrifying.

So my thought is could a change in medications be a possible cause of this terrible condition that you are experiencing?

My best wishes for your return to peaceful naps.
