The important considerations in treating skin cancers of the nose are between surgical removal vs. radiation. Both have pros and cons. No matter which approach is used, the most important factor is to make sure all of the cancer cells are either removed( surgery) or killed( radiation).
The advantage of Mohs is it has an excellent track record of removing all of the cancer cells and minimizing the size of the defect. On the other hand it does leave a defect which will require some type of coverage and with potential scarring.
Radiation usually leaves very little scarring and primarily redness which usually subsides in several months. The downside is one assumes all of the cancer cells have been killed. In addition, if the cancer recurs, dealing with previously radiated skin has its challenges.
Bottom line, ask all of the important questions regarding the pros and cons of each approach.

I thought I would do radiation but after careful consideration, I decided Mohs is probably best. Hiwevet. I am very concerned how bad the scarring will be.

Understandable concern. With time the wounds usually heal quite well. There’s always opportunities for touch ups if needed.
