How long did you have side effects from Tagrisso?

I've been taking Tagrisso since mid-March after my partial lobectomy in February. Thankfully, the cancer was Stage 1B so no chemo or radiation... just the Tagrisso.

For those of you who take Tagrisso, how long did you experience side effects? Diarrhea is the most unpleasant side effect and hope that I won't have to take Imodium for the duration of my treatment.

Update: after nearly 9 months on the 80mg Tagrisso, in addition to the diarrhea I developed a full body rash (very itchy) and my fingernails became quite brittle and seemed to stop growing. I shared these new symptoms with my oncologist and he agreed to drop the dosage to 40mg. Thankful - and hopeful that this will ease the side effects.

I was diagnosed Stage 1B adenocarcinoma in January 2025 and had my partial lobectomy (with a robot assist!) in February 2025. As many have said, this is a journey ....

I’m also 1B ADENOCARCINOMA - EGFR 19. I had a complete RLL lobectomy. I’m starting Tagrisso next week. I’ve asked my oncologist if I can start at 40mg. May I ask your age and where you live? I’m so glad to find this community! Thank you for sharing your experience. I hope your symptoms and quality of life improve soon!

@lisawolub ... hope your recovery from the surgery was fairly pain-free. The 40mg dosage has relieved many of the bothersome side effects and my last two PET scans have been clean ... so thankful and grateful! In regards to your questions ... I'm in my 70s and though I don't live near the Sierra Nevada mountains they are a place I visit as often as I can... I live in Ventura County which is also a beautiful part of the world. 🙂
