Sick again no antibiotics

Good morning. Has anybody got rid of viral infection with airway clearing only. I caught some bug- had 101 fever yesterday, cough more, produce more sputum which is clear. Is this exacerbation? My pulmonologist gave me a short course of prednisone. I did not start it yet- pharmacy was closed. She wants me to have a nasal swab for respiratory panel. Should I ask for a respiratory culture( history of colonized pseudomonas). So my question is is it possible to get rid of it without meds?

@lilianna If it's a virus, yes. Nasal swab makes sense since it's flu season and also walking pneumonia is going around. If you have COVID for example, you'd possibly have a fever and need to simply wait it out or if caught early get on Paxlovid if you tested positive. Airway clearance could help it from turning into a chest infection etc or from developing a secondary infection.

If you're clearing clear sputum that's a good sign.

I had what I think was viral infection and low grade temp 100.3 Thanksgiving week. I have sinus problems and drainage was green(has always been yellow). I did more airway clearance and more saline sinus rinse (stopped steroid rinse) and it cleared after several days. Good luck!

Update on my sick again And no antibiotics. I am updating my post so that you don’t make my mistake. That infection was Covid- so I did not need steroids that my pulmonologist prescribed before the nasal swab results came back. Instead I got paxlovid and more airway clearing. With all the aches and pains, short breath and heavy chest for over a month, cardio visits, eR I did not even think about something so simple as taking a Covid test at home. In a panic mode I thought another infection and execerbation. Thank god Covid is mild mostly sinus and more mucus and cough from back flow but paxlovid mouth is horrible. I also had a thought- when I am over this I am getting the SRV vaccine asp.
