My dad suffered 14 years with the painful neuralgia that follows shingles. He was 75 when he got the shingles.
This was before they had the Shingrix vaccine.

I urge everyone to get the Shingrix vaccine. Believe me you do not want shingles!

You can get this painful rash with blisters if you ever had chicken pox. It is on my mind as my 37 year old son-in-law who is in good health just had it and it has been very unpleasant for him. So for anyone concerned, I'd get the Shingrix vaccine, which uses a killed virus. Double check as needed with a doctor or pharmacist.

Indeed. My grandmother had it in her eye and it was horrible. I once met an 80 year old who couldn't get rid of the effects in her back.Anyone who has had chickenpox is vulnerable. And that's most of us. As you get older, you become more likely to get shingles. The vaccine works, so why not get it? Why would you want to add shingles to the problems many of us are dealing with after cancer treatments? There is a shingles outbreak here in Brisbane and everyone I know is making sure their vaccination is up to date.
