Severe full body itching after Covid vacine.
Since I had the
Astrazeneca vacine in Nov 2021 I have been suffering with severe full body skin itching without a rash. I have seen so many specialists and done so many tests but everything is normal. The only abnormality is that I have very high levels of B12.
I have tried various medications including Predesilone, Omalizumab, Hydroxychloroquine, SIngulair, Gabapentin to name a few but nothing has worked. Even tried UV light therapy.
It seems that most foods and particularly exercise worsens the itching. Unfortunately it has caused severe mental health issues due its persistency. If anyone has any ideas on what can help or what else to investigate please let me know.

Hi, I am fairly new to the Mayo clinic blogs. I came here looking for help for my husband and his red, hive-like bumps that itch pretty much 24/7, although some times worse than others. It started with a few and now 4 months later it has spread to arms, legs, torso front and back, and buttocks. Not so much head, neck or feet. He has tried antihistamines, steroids, prescription creams, many other OTC lotions and creams and now is starting ultra light therapy which is beginning to help. No one here has mentioned Grover's disease. They have a group here on the Mayo Clinic site. People are connecting the dots regarding the vaccines and these very problems....Check it out.
@mahmee,
I'm so sorry for your husband's ordeal with itchy bumps! That must be terrible for him! I'm surprised that the prescription creams didn't work. One thing that could help somewhat is drinking a lot of water. Our skin itches often because it is dry. Also low vitamin A and B12 and vitamin D can cause itchiness too. I'd suggest that you do a Mayo Clinic search for your husband's symptoms. You might get some good suggestions. I hope things get better for him! I will say a prayer for him.

1 ReactionHi pml, yes, I agree that dry skin really affects to situation too. He tries. I got him as long handled roller from Amazon, to apply his lotion...As far as the prescription creams, we just got the 2.5 hydrocortisone and Triamcinolone. Such small tubes for such large areas of red bumps! They do seem to work for a while...Thank you for your prayer sent our way 🙂
@mahmee sounds like Grover’s Disease. Ask dermatologist to do a punch biopsy
following. Also look into medication allergy. Sounds like a histamine reaction to me.

2 Reactions@mahmee I have had a condition that has only been diagnosed as dermatitis. I have learned that triamcinolone comes in pint tubs if your dermatologist will prescribe that. My dermatoligist had no problem prescribing it but when I later saw the nurse practitioner, she hesitated to prescribe tubs and advised me to not use it unless absolutely necessary! I've been substituting lots of lubriderm lotion instead.
@ronknox he has had the punch biopsy. They really couldn't determine anything from that, I guess. Sent us to an oncologist hemotologist! Bloodwork doesn't really show anything either although some levels are off. Doctor thinks there is an underlying condition and has ordered tests. Very slow going!
@deniseheart yes, the dermatologist did put him on allergy medication twice a day. Unsure if that or steroids or whatever else he was taking was helping. But think it did help a bit.
@caroljo Good to know about the tubs! Thank you!
